A special kit for a special Pioneer stereo

Pioneer designed a unique solution in the DMH-C5500NEX digital multimedia receiver, which consists of a "black box" and a separate 8" touchscreen connected by a proprietary cable. Not surprisingly, your standard double-DIN dash kit won't accommodate this kind of touchscreen. So, Metra worked with Pioneer to provide this unique "floating" double-DIN adapter kit for a clean installation of the DMH-C5500NEX in most vehicles with a 4" dash opening.

Here's how it works. First, you install the double-DIN dash kit designed for your vehicle (sold separately). Then this Metra 108-UN02 floating kit provides a housing for the Pioneer receiver's separate 8" touchscreen so it floats over your dash, secured by the dash kit. The radio's chassis mounts in the lower half of the dash opening.
